Turkey is built on an old and rich history. At the same time it is a member of the modern world. The country represents a cultural mixture, a synthesis of east and west, while it geographically bridges Europe and Asia. Combining natural beauty with its 1000-year-old heritage. Thus giving you a unique opportunity to learn and enjoy its life and culture.
Whether you prefer idyllic fishing harbours, sports, popular holiday villages, the remains of ancient civilizations history, culture and mythology, hot baths and spas, winter sports, nature, parks, wild life, yachting or food, Turkey is definitely a place to live life to the full. Turkey is a paradise of sun, sea, lakes and nature that offers you a complete change from everyday life. With an ideal climate of 10?C in January to around 40?C on the Aegean and Mediterranean coast. It is surrounded by 5,000 miles of unspoilt coastline and offers 300 days of non-stop sunshine. What more could you wish for? Turkey is often considered just as a sunny holiday resort. It most certainly has much more to offer. Its history dates back to some of the greatest civilizations in the world, from the Hittite Empire that occupied Central Anatolia nearly 4,000 years ago, Turkey has been home to some of the most influential ancient cultures that the world has ever had. The Persians, the Lycians and Greeks all came and left stunning ruined cities and tombs. The Library at Ephesus is one of the most famous sites of the ancient world and the city of Troy, home of the legendary Helen and location of the mythical Trojan Wars of Homer, is perhaps the most evocative places on earth. Add to this the Byzantine and Ottoman empires, the churches of Cappadocia and the city of Istanbul there is enough to keep you busy for many visits. With over 5,000 miles of coastline along the four seas, Turkey is a treasure chest of coves, inlets, bays and beaches at which yachtsmen can choose a different and private anchorage each night. The sailing paradise of Turkey is also home to the Blue Voyage. This idyllic cruise means sailing with the winds, into coves and over the seas and becoming one with nature. It is also an experience of the history of man from the perspective of the sea rather than from the land, a journey which carries you to the private beach of Cleopatra, the eternal fires of remains of ancient civilizations. For lovers of the active life, sailing in clear waters provides great opportunities for swimming, fishing, skiing, surfing and scuba diving. Turkey is more than a sunny summer resort. With a mild winter season, an approximate altitude of 1000m in the north spreading to east, Turkey has stunning skiing resorts. During the normal winter conditions the height of the snow reaches approximately 3 meters. Uludag and Kartalkaya are the most popular ones. As an example in Uludag the skiing area is 1750 - 2547 m high and covered with natural forests. The duration of skiing is 120 days a year. The most suitable skiing conditions are between 20 December and 1 March. Both centers have suitable conditions for Alpine skiing, ski touring, snow boarding, cross country and heli-skiing. Ski centre offers qualified skiing instructors and equipment for hire during the skiing season. High season is between November and April and definitely worth visiting.
